DURING any incident involving LP Gases an SCBA is NOT AN OPTION!!!
As you will see in the photos, at some classes the students/departments have opted to NOT wear their SCBA during live burn operations.
This OPTION is decided by the firefighter and or their department. We suggest/recommend that a certified SCBA be worn by all persons making a primary attack. And that they have met at a minimum the requirements of CFR1910.134.
We understand that during a course such as this in small rural areas, ALL of their SCBA resources could be depleted and that that reasoning has and will play into opting to not wear proper PPE.
We would suggest that you provide an onsite SCBA recharging unit. If your agency/county does not have such a unit, contact your regions District Planning Council (DPC) for the closest unit.
