Description
Softwood Plugs are manufactured using various softwood species such as Sugar Pine, Ponderosa Pine, Hem Fir, and Spruce. Softwood Plugs conform to the broken seacock, pipe, or hull and swell upon contact with water ensuring a tight fit.
Softwood Plugs are commonly used by fire departments, haz-mat teams, and shipyards. Softwood through hull plugs and damage control plugs are used onboard marine vessels in the event of an emergency. It is recommended that plugs be stowed or tied off next to all through hull fittings. The same properties that make softwood plugs ideal for keeping water out of marine vessels applies in reverse for haz-mat response. Softwood plugs are used by haz-mat teams to keep fluids in tanks and pipelines.
