This kit is designed to allow incident personnel to connect a propane flare to a CNG system and safely manage the higher pressures using the included components.
The Responder Training Enterprises (RTE) CNG Vent/Flare Kit meets the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Environmental Management mitigation hierarchy.
Environmental frameworks explicitly mandate a three-step mitigation order for managing high-pressure compressed natural gas (CNG) to minimize climate and safety impacts:
1. Direct Transfer (Highest priority: capture and reuse gas with zero/minimal release).
2. Flaring (Second priority: combust methane efficiently if capture isn’t viable, as flared CO₂ is significantly less damaging to the atmosphere than raw methane).
3. Venting to Atmosphere (Absolute last resort when containment and combustion are impossible).
The RTE kit aligns tightly with this exact sequence.
It includes a full pressure valve assembly with pressure gauge, a “Direct Vent Valve Assembly”. This assembly allows the responder to connect and control full pressure system (3600 psi).
The kit also has a valve assembly with 1 3/4″ ACME connector Assembly and a PRD that opens up (350psi). As soon as the audible alert is heard, the control valve MUST be partially shut down/closed to limit downstream pressure protecting the propane hose .
Use of safety glasses and body protection is required for the use of this kit.

- Valve assembly with relief valve that provides an audible alert when the system flow exceeds the preset pressure allowing propane hose to be used as an extension.
